Womens Captain Newsletter Spring 2018

Hello Ladies.

I am reliably informed we are now in Spring! Time to dust off the short sleeve polos and shorts. Put away the wet weather gear, yeah right!

Wildlife Report.

Whilst we are not feeling at all spring-like, our resident wildlife are bringing new life to the course. On Tuesday, we had 7 paradise ducklings and our black swans still had two cygnets. So cute. Our squawky birds (plovers?) have produced 2 babies, (which now look so grown up) and various ducks have had early ducklings. No baby chickens as yet

Annual General Meeting 2018 -Thursday 13th September.

AGM is coming up on Thursday 13th September at 7.30pm - your club needs your input and vote on the night - there will be elections for club officials. Elections needed - we have 3 nominations for the 2 board director vacancies, and 4 nominations for the 2 Golf Committee vacancies....make sure you attend the AGM to cast your vote!

All ladies and categories are welcome to attend, the AGM. It is important you know how Akarana runs, whether you can vote or not. Can all full playing ladies attend (a) to ensure we have a quorum and (b) vote for the positions vacant on the Board and Golf Committee.

In certain circumstances, you can have an absentee vote, please contact Ryan in the office and he will let you know what to do - admin@akaranagolf.co.nz. or 6210024

At 6.30pm on the same night, we have a presentation for all members about the new Rules of Golf coming into effect on January 1st next year

The cafe is open until 7 pm

Rae Riggir.

Rae is standing down, after 6 years on the board. Within that time, Rae has made a lasting contribution to Akarana. She has made improvements to the clubhouse, bathrooms, and surrounds. You will all agree the clubrooms are now a pleasant place to wind down after a game or just pop in for a coffee. So on behalf of all the ladies, thank you.

Justine O'Connell.

Justine O'Connell, (WEW), has agreed to stand for the board. We think it is important that we have a woman on the Board to represent the women members and our interests.  Justine has a wealth of knowledge in the business field, specializing in employment law. Please take the time to read her full Bio on the nominations board, on the left of the corridor to the bar.

Pennants, 2019

I have put notices up for you to put your names up for the 2019 season. We will be having a Betty Faesen team, same format as last year. An A team (new format, 18 holes match play). 2 weekend and 2-midweek teams, no change.

Sand buckets.

This is defiantly working. Please remind your fellow players to take a bucket. Refilling stations are on 3, 8.10.14 and 17. The proshop has a hook for your golf bag, for a gold coin donation, this is not a money making scheme as all the money goes to our course development fund.
