Well, some might say it's not quite winter yet, but when I see a picture of my nephew and his partner sunning themselves on some beach in Israel, I don't care its cold! I hope those who need it have had the Flu injection by now.
This is probably the time to be checking your sprigs and wet weather gear, I'm sure the proshop has plenty of warm woolly hats. You will all be aware we now have Clean and place throughout the green but also there are some wet areas on the course so take care. Repair pitch marks where you can and replace divots. Please remember the Red Tees are there to be played, especially at this time of the year (there are properly rated and everything) - golf is still a challenge from them believer me.
I would like to point out to you the new tee booking policy. Posted around the club so take a moment to read it.
Well, our Interclub/ Pennant and Tri-series have finished for this year with mixed results. Some of us had slow starts but ended up with a pleasing result, some of us well let's hope that next year is our year. No podium finishes this year, I'm afraid.
The Betty Faesen competition finished at Titirangi but there was no clear winner till the last team came in. RAGGCs won with 1 point ahead from Remuera. Betty Faesen (yes she is still alive at 92) herself braved the miserable weather to present the trophy. Akarana was 6th.
Our A team had mixed results with a 5th placing. Winners were RAGGC #1 very strong team.
Mid-week, we had two teams again mixed results. Section B (Fiona as captain) finished 6th with Titirangi #1 first. Section C(Barbara as Captain) finished 5th with RAGGC #5 as winners. As this goes to print we don't know the winner of Section A but Titirangi and RAGGC #5 will go to the 3-way playoff at Pukekohe on 7th June.
Weekend, also had two teams. Section A came second, beaten by ½ a point by Maungakiekie. Section B had a very consistent competition and came 3rd. Winner of this section was Whitford Park. Whitford and Maungakiekie will play off on 10th June venue TBA.
9 hole Triangular which are home and away matches played in zones, Southern, Central, Eastern and Western. Akarana is in the Western Zone with Titirangi and Maungakiekie. Some close matches but Maungakiekie won our zone with Akarana 3rd. There will be a playoff between the zones, the winner of the Eastern zone has yet to be finalized.
